Ashfield 1 brings vibrant community project to Sutton Young People's Centre

Ashfield Team 1 has been making a real difference in the community through their latest project at Sutton Young People’s Centre. As part of The King’s Trust Team Programme, our young volunteers spent two weeks revitalizing the centre, ensuring it remains a welcoming space for all. During the project the team worked tirelessly, rolling up their sleeves for a full renovation of the shared space. Their efforts included painting and decorating, tidying the grounds, and even building a wheelchair-accessible bench in the outside space to ensure inclusivity for all visitors.

To top it all off, the project culminated in a bright and welcoming mural inside the venue, adding a splash of creativity and warmth to the space. The transformation has not only enhanced the centre but has also left a lasting impact on the young people involved, helping them develop new skills, confidence, and a sense of pride in their community. "As we operate Team out of Sutton Young People's Centre, this community project has been especially rewarding" said Jamie Carter, King's Trust Team Leader in Ashfield. "We get to see the joy our project brings everyday which is unlike any other project I've supported with before. A special thanks goes out to Ian from Nottinghamshire County Council for letting us loose on the venue and a huge well done to Ashfield Team 1 for their hard work and dedication".
