What to expect

Day 1: Meet new people

We know that meeting new people can feel daunting so your first day on Team will be full of relaxed, anxiety-friendly games to help you settle in. You’ll be joined by up to 15 other young people looking to kickstart their career on Team and will meet your Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader who will support you over the next 12 weeks.

Week 1: Take action

During your first week, you’ll discuss what you want to achieve with your Team Leader and make a plan of next steps to help you on this journey. You’ll also learn more about the other people in your team so you can support each other along the way.

Week 2: New experiences

During your second week, you’ll enjoy an action packed residential trip where you can try new things and bond with your team. With support from your Team Leader, you’ll work together to encourage one another as you try out activities like canoeing, abseiling, and caving.

Weeks 3-6: Community Project

This is your opportunity to give back to your community as yet set out as a team to support a local project and make a difference. Past teams have helped to build community gardens, renovate skate parks and support a local wildlife sanctuary – it’s a great project to talk about at interviews as you’ll gain hands-on experience of fundraising, project management, leadership skills and more!

Weeks 7-8: Work placements

Your work placement weeks are a time to show off the skills you’ve developed so far and learn more about the industry you’d like to work in. You’ll experience life in the workplace, meet new people and get feedback from employers that you can apply in weeks that follow.

Week 9: Plan for the future

Being work ready is the focus this week as you practice your interview skills and add all of your new experiences and skills to your CV. Your team leader will help you refine your employability skills and support you in writing applications that stand out from the crowd.

Weeks 10-11: Meet the challenge

Over the next two weeks you’ll use your new-found confidence to head back out into the community to help others.  As a group, you will choose a new challenge to bring joy to your local community and apply your skills.

Week 12: Have your say

As the programme comes to an end, you’ll have the opportunity to give a short presentation on your Team journey and reflect on your achievements as a group. Graduate and celebrate together - you deserve it!
